The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga is currently visiting the Fernie 2 Local community Hall in Mpuluzi to render solutions towards the community.

SASSA will be rendering providers for instance new social grant applications, change of payment method, customer care enquiries, plus the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) COVID-19 grant enquiries.

In a statement, the agency explained it's alarmed with regard to the higher amount of people depending on social grants for survival.
“The intention with the Integrated Registration Outreach Programme [ICROP] is to reach-out into a substantial number of clients/beneficiaries to access SASSA sassa status services.

“That is due to the lack of infrastructure at Fernie and there is no absolutely functional office committed to service the area on a daily basis. The provider position made for intervention experiences a significant influx of possible beneficiaries, that makes it tricky for your office to attend to all people who visit a service point.

“In this reach-out programme, SASSA will mobilise extra assets to empower the servicing of all clients and enhance entry to Social Assistance products and services,” the agency said.
